Sherburne Mobile Home Park - Wastewater Permit

We invite you to comment on the draft wastewater permit for KAW Parks, LLC.

KAW Parks, LLC applied for a reissued water quality permit for the Sherburne Mobile Home Park Wastewater Treatment Facility. The facility is designed to treat up to 16,000 gallons per day and does not discharge to a surface water.

The permittee is planning to connect to the Princeton Wastewater Treatment Facility in the future. The draft permit includes a compliance schedule with two tracks; track A accommodates the connection to the Princeton facility and track B requires installation of groundwater monitoring wells ensuring compliance with the MPCA’s Nitrogen Policy for SDS permits if, within five years after permit issuance, the facility has determined they cannot connect to the Princeton facility.

Water quality permits - or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits - establish specific limits and requirements to protect Minnesota's surface and groundwater quality. Permits are regularly reviewed and updated as they expire, allowing the MPCA to incorporate new information about the impacts of pollutants on the environment in future permits. Permits are enforced through a combination of self-reporting and compliance monitoring.
