We invite you to comment on the draft Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for the proposed 3C Dairy Feedlot Construction.
3C Dairy (proposer) is proposing to construct a new dairy milking facility capable of housing 3,600 head (5,040 animal units) dairy milking cows (project). The project will be 47-48 acres and include one tunnel-ventilated dairy barn with milking parlor and associated holding area. 3C Dairy will store all liquid manure produced at the facility in a three-stage synthetic lined liquid manure storage area. 3C Dairy will haul separated solids and liquid manure produced to cropland for manure application after harvest activities are complete in the fall or prior to planting activities in the spring.
Temporary construction impacts are expected to last between 6 and 12 months, depending on contractor schedules, material availability, and weather conditions. In contrast, the environmental footprints of daily dairy operations, including liquid and solid waste storage and land application, will continue throughout the lifespan of the facility. By strictly adhering to government permit regulations and implementing the best management practices (BMPs) outlined in this review, no significant cumulative environmental impacts are anticipated from this project.
The Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) is not a decision and does not determine whether the project moves forward. It is an information-gathering document used to inform decisionmakers including those issuing land use and environmental permits that are required for the project. The environmental review process provides an opportunity for public input during the public comment period.
