We invite you to comment on the draft 401 Water Quality Certification for MN DOT TH 250 Lanesboro Outfalls in Fillmore County.
DOT proposes removal of 3 outfalls above the Ordinary High-Water Level, replacement in kind of a culvert that carries an unnamed tributary under TH 250, and construction of a thermal cooling ditch that will carry stormwater from TH 250 and treat it before it enters the Root River all within the City of Lanesboro. No mitigation is required.
A 401 Water Quality Certification is required when an individual, business, or property owner proposes construction-related activities near a navigable lake, river, stream, or adjacent wetland. The MPCA reviews projects to ensure they will not violate Minnesota's more protective water quality standards. The 401 certification becomes an enforceable component of the associated federal license or permits issued under the Clean Water Act.
